Change can be good or bad; depending on your point of view
– Tenzin from Legend of Korra
Our 20s are some of the most transitional periods of our lives. We go from the familiarity of being students, with limited responsibilities and supportive mentors, to suddenly being hit with the term ‘adult’ and all that implies. This is the period when we need to discover what it means to be individuals with power and how we can use that power to create change.
Bureau Kensington Inc presents Changes, a discussion group geared towards youth aged 22-28 interested or involved in activism, social justice and the non-profit sector. The discussions will cover topics not just limited to the transition from student to adult, but a wide range of topics such as power, politics, social justice, authority, toxicity, and much more. The discussion series will conclude with a storytelling event where participants will be encouraged to share their own stories.
Discussions will take place on the first Thursday of every month from November-April from 7:00-8:30 in Kensington Market. Every session will include a discussion and an experiential portion where we put our discussion into action; participants will be invited to a private Facebook group where they can continue the conversations between sessions. Participants will be provided with a supportive peer group, an opportunity to tell their stories, a unique learning experience, a small honorarium, TTC tokens, and some yummy snacks.
Space is limited, so RSVP soon to hold your place. We hope to see all of you there!
